Well welcome! The Embarcadero Inn is a very nice hotel. Friday night I would choose Hoppe%26#39;s in Cayucos for an extravegant dinner and then walk along the Cayucos pier in the moonllight. Cayucos is only a short 15 minute drive south of Morro Bay and it is a gorgeous drive along the ocean.
Or, eat at Dorn%26#39;s in Morro Bay. Or go into SLO for a truly memorable meal at the Madonna Inn. I love the Madonna Inn and I think everyone should go there once. There is simply no other place like it on earth.
If you like to wine taste I would spend my Saturday wine tasting in Paso Robles or SLO. You can have a long fantastic day with wine tasting.
Start off in Morro Bay on Saturday morning with breakfast at Dorns. Then drive into SLO for wine tasting. When you get tired of this go shopping on Higuera Street, a tree llned wonderful street full of boutique shopping. Then have dinner at Madonna Inn.
Things to do in Morro Bay for alternative Saturday: Get up and have breakfast at Dorn%26#39;s. Rent a kayak and go out onto the bay to see otters and seals and birds galore. Kayaking is a must! Come back and visit the Museum of Natural History in Morro Bay State Park.
Lunch at Bayside Cafe overlooking the Bay just underneith the Museum on the Marina. Wonderful views. Eat outside.
Shop on the Embarcadero in the afternoon. Maybe take off for Los Osos (only a few minutes away) and visit one of the most beautiful places on earth - Montana de Oro State Park. See the tide pools, the Living History program, the shale beach, and so much more. It is a seven mile drive into and back out of the Park. There are tons of hiking trails. Don%26#39;t miss it!
Then dine for dinner at Hoppe%26#39;s in Cayucos or Madonna Inn in SLO or even Jimmy Bump%26#39;s for Italian food in Los Osos.
Anything else you need just let me know. I love it here.

One more thing since you mentioned a bar on Friday. If you eat dinner this night at Madonna Inn at 9:00 PM they have a huge dance floor and everyone does all types of ballroom dancing and you can have drinks and fantastic desserts and watch them dance all night.
My favouite Morro Bay restaurant is Window over the Water. Dorn%26#39;s is OK but I liked WOTW better - nicer views , better staff and food was fresher. Both Dorns and WOTW are an easy walk from your hotel.
It%26#39;s a pity you can%26#39;t be there on Thursday night - the farmers market in San Luis Obispo is a really fun place to spend the evening. It%26#39;s not just a market but is a big outdoor party too with lots of bbq stands and live music everywhere.
We really don%26#39;t care for Dorn%26#39;s. Haven%26#39;t been to Windows yet, but really enjoy the dining room at the Inn at Morro Bay. Very nice service, great food and pretty views of Morro Rock from the dining room.
If you decide on Pismo, the Sea Venture Resort is very nice. Love the property there and the restaurant is very nice for dinner. Complimentary beach chairs and surrey bikes are included with your stay at Sea Venture, book a room with the soft-tub jacuzzis. Cheers! :)
Thanks to all of you who replied....Gourmand, if your enthusiasm could be bottled, you%26#39;d be rich!! Thanks - can%26#39;t wait to get there!!! It%26#39;s pouring in Scotland!!
Just a quick note ... you don%26#39;t say the type of places you%26#39;re looking for. Morro Bay will be ';quieter'; than San Luis Obispo if you%26#39;re looking for a younger scene and some activity after dinner. I%26#39;d head to SLO if that is the case, as it is a college town and has a fun atmosphere downtown until the bars close down for the night. Otherwise, everyone has good advice.
Well Paul, it is a great joy to live here. You%26#39;ll see! We decided today to go over the mountain to Paso Robles for the olive oil tasting festival and it was 105 degrees - only 40 minutes away! Here in my humble abode it is about 60 degreees with mild breeze and I can hear the fog horns so the fog is rolling in like it does all the time. You are going to love it. The weather on the ocean here stays at a constant 55-65 degrees 24/7.
Dorns has been a local favorite for decades and decades. Perhaps that is why I love it. You over look the entire Embarcadero from there and they are best known for their clam chowder and their hot sourdough bread with butter. A perfect meal. They have outdoor dining and on a beautiful day it is pretty perfect. Dorn%26#39;s overlooks the human sized chess board that on the weekends you will probably see people physically moving the chess pieces to play a game. Now that is quite the view!
Windows on the Water is a lovely restaurant on the Embarcadero over looking the water only which is also a wonderful view. But there are many restaurants here - many that serve up some good fish and chips like Rosa%26#39;s. Also on the water. So, take your pick.
There is a cute little farmers market on Saturday nights in Morro Bay. Also, the restaurants at the Inn at Morro Bay are both good. I know the Chef there. He is good.
Enjoy! And don%26#39;t forget to go kayaking!!
