San Diego or Anaheim??

We will be staying in Anaheim for the first part of our vacation, then we planned on driving to San Diego for 2 days before driving to Vegas. The only thing in San Diego we will be seeing is Sea World and maybe the wild animal park. My question is should we just stay at the same hotel in Anaheim the whole time (before we leave for Vegas) and drive back and forth to San Diego, or should we just stick to the plan and get another hotel in San Diego?? I%26#39;ve noticed that the hotels down in San Diego are a little more than up in Anaheim. Also, with 3 kids, the less moving of hotels the better for us! Thanks for any help!!!

Get a hotel in San Diego. Traffic can be awful and the price of gas may be more than the difference in a hotel.

Since Sea World is expensive to visit and has a lot of stuff to do, you will probably want to do that for the whole day or combine it with an evening in Old Town. Wild Animal Park is in Escondido which is about an hour north and slightly east of Downtown San Diego. The San Diego Zoo is more centrally located in Balboa Park where there are many museums that are popular with families that you may wish to visit as well. I do like the Wild Animal Park, though, because the animals have a lot more space to roam around in. San Diego has a lot of interesting stuff to visit so I highly recommend you stay there because it is only worth it to drive from Anaheim if you only plan on making one round-trip--anything more than that in my view makes staying there much more convenient.

There are many budget motels located in the Midway neighborhood (near Old Town and Sea World--also not far from the zoo). You might try the Holiday Inn Express (Old Town location) or Old Town Inn. But book early because they sell out quickly in the summer, especially on a Friday or Saturday night.

Get a hotel... you%26#39;ll be glad you did after not driving an hour or more each way getting to and from SD with traffic, the kids won%26#39;t be happy doing that and you%26#39;ll be kicking yourself for wasting all that time when you could be out enjoying the sights!

Agree with the other posters. Get a hotel in San Diego. Commuting from Anaheim to San Diego is not my idea of a fun vacation. The price of gas isn%26#39;t too far from $3 a gallon (actually it%26#39;s hit that in some areas of SD). The traffic is getting worse all the time. Both Sea World and the Wild Animal Park are very easy to get to.
