one day in early October

We will be driving from Vegas to death Valley in early October. We will leave in the morning and then have booked one night at the Furnace Creek Ranch. The next day we leave fro Palm Springs. Can anyone recommend the must sees in that time frame and the distances from our lodging?

From Furnace creek ranch south:

Badwater - lowest point in the southern hemisphere

Devils golf course

Artists Drive/Pallette

(about a 40 - 50 mile roundtrip for the above)

From Furnace Creek North:

Borax Works, 20 mule team (ruins but quite interesting)

Salt Creek (Nice wildlife area, wooden boardwalk in Salt Marsh, view Pup fish.)

Dunes near Stovepipe wells, great for sunrise/or sunset

Mosaic Canyon

Scotty%26#39;s castle (take the tour if possible, fascinating story)

Ubehebe Crater (Great site especially if you have kids.

(The north is probably more like 110 - 120 miles round trip)

Have a super time!!!! Its such a great place. They have a nice golf course at the furnace creek ranch. Also, their huge swimming pool is fed by a natural spring - no chlorine
