First Timer to Anaheim

Hi

I have loads of questions to ask. Hope it doesn%26#39;t take up too much of your time and really, truly appreciate your kindness.

Firstly.

1) as we are on a budget, are there any hotels very near disneyland offering at abt US40 to US50 per nite?

2) which is the fastest and most economical way to move around from Disneyland to Knotts Berry, Universal Studio, Rodeo Drive, San Diego Zoo etc, besides driving? As we are not left hand drivers, we are a little skeptical about driving in LA.

3) any advice you may have for first timers.

Once again, THANKS.

First Timer to Anaheim

We always stay at the Alpine Inn which is within walking distance of the Timon parking lot tram. It%26#39;s just a simple motel with not a lot of amenities, but it%26#39;s clean, comfortable, and inexpensive. We usually only pay about $50/night.

Enjoy a fun time at Disneyland, you%26#39;ll love it!

First Timer to Anaheim

It depends on the time of year you visit, off-season you will have an easier time getting the rates you mentioned. You could always try Priceline and name $40 or $50 as your price and see if it gets accepted. I%26#39;ve always had good luck using it, although I haven%26#39;t used it for Anaheim. I like to stay as close to the entrance as possible because I like to just walk back and forth as I wish. If that appeals to you, try the Carousel Inn for around $59 a night if you use Expedia. If you end up further away from the park, most hotels have a shuttle to Disneyland. For getting to other places, you could use the ART (Anaheim Resort Transit, I believe)... to get to shopping, Knotts, etc. Look on www.rideart.org.

San Diego to Anaheim is about 1 and a half hours driving, so you might have to look into Greyhound, Amtrak etc. if you really don%26#39;t want to drive. As for advice, have fun! Disneyland is my favorite place in the world! I think you need at least a 3-day hopper to see everything. Be sure to catch the shows if you can. I always go early, pack a lot into the morning, go back to my hotel and rest and eat dinner, then go back and stay until closing. I hope you have a great time.

Getting around LA is not fun I hate saying this but you are going to have your best luck renting a car. You can take the train downto San Diego which is very convient. You can hop on the Train at Anaheim Stadium (about 5 miles) and you will be in San Diego within 1 1/2 or so. Going towards LA just does not work the same. You can take the Same train into Union Station (which is worth the ride) but getting to Rodeo and Universal is just going to be bad. If you are going to stay at one of the hotels near the park make sure it is on Harbor or Katella adjacent to the park hotels surround the park on three side and you want to be on one of those sides. As I live 15 miles from the park never had the need to stay at any of the hotels but they look very dicey the farther you are away from the park.

Make sure you are in the park one night at 9:30 for the fireworks!!!!!!!!!!

PS if you can drive on the wrong side of the road you will do fine here. hahaha
