Will be in Desert Hot Springs for two nites in October. Would like to take my significant other out for a couple of nice dinners. Am looking for romantic, either sedate or lively, places with good (eclectic?) food, good (beautiful) people watching, etc.
Ideal place would be one with some interesting nightlife where she can dress up a little more provocatively than in our conservative hometown, and have a little fun.
Need two romantic dinner spots in Palm Springs or Desert...
There isnt much in DHS- plan to go to Palm Springs one nite and Palm Desert or Rancho Mirage another nite. You will have great weather in October....for fun and a party atmosphere, Las Casuelas Terraza in downtown PS is good. Consistently good Mexican food and live band, open air seating on patio, great drinks, fast paced ,gets loud and crowded at nite. Across the street is the St James which is more subdued and higher end food - in a Marakkesh style decor and good bar scene later in the evening. Hit them both, also on the same block is LG%26#39;s Steakhouse , The Falls, Kaiser Grille, Chop House...which are all excellent food.

I%26#39;d also recommend Le Vallauris. Very romantic restaurant. Ask for a table on the patio. Beautiful trees in the patio all lit with twinkle lights. The servers are all professionals, the food is wonderful and presentation is huge there. I%26#39;ve never had a bad experience and go there for special occasions with my husband.
I think the Falls would be romantic if you get a balcony table for two overlooking Palm Canyon. The other restaurants listed by the previous poster are all very nice and have great bars, but I wouldn%26#39;t consider them overy romantic. Great restaurants, tho. Las Casuelas has a very fun outdoor bar which will be great for your time of year.
