This may sound silly (but you get that a lot on this site), but we are spending quite a few days out at Anaheim, and was just wondering what else there is to do out that way apart from DL. Is there shopping malls close by or any other tourist things to do?
What Else To Do At Anaheim
Hi Chooka,
We were in Anaheim a couple of weeks ago....and decided to let the teenagers go to the Theme Parks and we, adults, opted to go site seeing in Orange County. We really loved the day...although we first went up to IKEA for a quick IKEA Fix and then to the Long Beach Area,,,, The Aquarium and the Queen Mary. We then drove down along the beach to the Balboa area ... then we crossed over to the Anaheim Hills, as we knew people who where relocating there and we were curious about the area, and found ourselves in the lovely little town circle of the City of Orange....and finally we went to the Crystal Cathedral..... We got back to the Disney Downtown Area just in time to dine with the teens, who loved being about Disneyland without us clocking them in every couple of hours ....It was a fantastic tour of the area. We were serendipitous about the adventure, but, were impressed with all the places we found. Southern California is more than Disneyland and not just Hollywood!
Hope that helps....

What Else To Do At Anaheim
There%26#39;s plenty of things to do:Knott%26#39;s Bery Farm or Disneyland, walk the pier in Huntington Beach or Newport Beach.Go to a old fashion beach town called Seal Beach-has shops .pier ,eats and the beach. From Anaheim go straight down Beach Blvd to these beaches-very easy. Like to shop go to Costa Mesa Mall-upscale.Also Medieval Times up the street from Knott%26#39;s.The baseball team-The Angels play in Anaheim-hockey the Mighty Ducks. There are concerts all around the OC.You%26#39;ll have a really great time-so enjoy the trip. There are many shopping malls all around the area.
G%26#39;day Chooka!
There%26#39;s plenty to do as the other posters have indicated.
Will you have a car? If not, hire one for a day (at least) and drive to Long Beach to see the Queen Mary and then motor on to Santa Monica. It%26#39;s a good day!
P.S. reply-The Costa Mesa Mall is called South Coast Plaza.Another nice one is Fashion Island in Newport Beach. From Anahim take Katella St. to Beach Blvd. go straight to you hit the beach';PCH';-turn left to Newport -turn right to Surf City,Huntington Beach and Seal Beach. Hope this helps a little.
its a real nice trip on the train from anaheim to san diego, most of the trip is along the coast and you will see beach towns that would be missed driving, it goes through san clemente, camp pendalton, leucadia etc. The trip ends in downtown san diego where it is a short walk to several attractions such as the gas lamp district, horton plaza, harbor tour of the naval ships, ferry to coronado and more.
Just got back and if you are after a nice mall with good places to eat try The Block at Orange has lots of nice shops together with some unusual ones as well. It also has some good places to eat and a cinema. We tried a water park whilst out that way which was good cool way to spend the day. The beaches are about half an hour to an hours drive away from Anaheim depending on traffic. Venice beach is worth a visit it is very boho and hippyish good for people watching and swimming. We hired bikes and rode up and down the front using the cycle lanes, it was great fun. Laguna beach is more up market and again has a great beach. Unfortunately the day we went masses of jelly fish seemed to be washed up and they were huge! I have never seen red jelly fish before and myself and children decided just to dip our toes in the water! The lifeguard said they normally only stay in much warmer water and they do not usually come to Laguna. Long beach is good to see Queen Mary but the beach whilst it is miles of long clean sand the water is rather polluted. That I assume is due to the fact that long beach is a port.
The Interstate and the Freeways do get busy during rush hour so try and travel either before or after rush hour. If more than two of you are in the car use the Car Pool lane it moves a lot faster but remember you can%26#39;t cross out over the double red line between the carpool lane and the other lanes. Don%26#39;t worry you can still get out at your junction cos the lines disperse for a short period of time so you can move over.
