Does anyone know of a good Italian restaurant or any other type that%26#39;s good on Union Street? It will be for dinner.

Scala%26#39;s Bistro is decent.

Another good place (although French) is the Hyde Street Bistro. If you%26#39;re willing to travel a short distance (you can get there on the Powell St. cable car line) it%26#39;s quite nice.

Oops! I just misread! I saw ';Union Square'; rather than Union Street.

Prego is on Union Street. If you walk a few blocks up to Chestnut Street, then try A16. That place, from what I%26#39;ve heard, is really good.

Prego is fine but overpriced IMO. The food is good but nothing special. However, right next door is Beetlenut, which provides excellent pan-asian food at a reasonable price. Be sure to reserve in advance. And a couple of doors down is the new Home, which is supposed to be as good as the one on Market.

If you want good SF Italian Try Via Vai, which is owned by the guy who used to run Pane y Vino. Or hop on the 45 bus and you%26#39;ll be in North Beach in 10 minutes, where there are plenty of Italian places.
