so what%26#39;s Fresno like, besides HOT. Am going there for business on Sunday and have never been.
FresnoIt reminded me of Des Moines, Iowa, but with palm trees and Mexicans. (Downtown Des Moines may actually be more urbane.) The Tower district, centered on Olive west of Blackstone Ave., is the most interesting neighborhood. It%26#39;s the artsy/alternative district. If you like antique shops, the old historic center of Clovis, a suburb to the east, might interest you. If you have a car and a free day or two you really should go up to Yosemite. It%26#39;s a ninety-mile drive----really an overnight trip, in my opinion----but there%26#39;s nothing remotely like it in the Midwest.
Fresnook booradley2 I%26#39;m dieing laughing. I%26#39;ll give you one guess where I live?
Can you conduct your business by telephone? Lived there for 17 years, and the only thing that changes is the population and the accompanying traffic. Even the midwest looks better....
My intuition tells me it%26#39;s in the Midwest somewhere..... .. So, how are things in DM these days-----it%26#39;s been twenty-five years since I was there. Does the downtown still close after 5:00 pm? I used to live near the Drake campus-----has that area changed at all? The Tower district in Fresno is kind of similar to that neighborhood, but freakier. (And don%26#39;t tell me you live near Drake!) Seriously though, I%26#39;d like to repeat my advice to go up to Yosemite, if you can. Fresno is going to seem rather familiar, but I can pretty much guarantee that the Sierras will make you feel like you%26#39;ve been on a journey.
booradley2 no, don%26#39;t live hear Drake. You%26#39;d be amazed how much things have changed downtown. Lofts, condos, riverwalk, ampitheater, the city is really doing a lot to keep people downtown. We have an art festival downtown ranked 4th in the country. You%26#39;ll have to come back and visit.
Well, maybe someday. The people there are certainly very nice. And normal. (Something that%26#39;s not always true out here.) By the way, I%26#39;ve had second thoughts about recommending a visit to Yosemite. In August it would be hellishly overcrowded. I hope you didn%26#39;t make any plans.
