Foreign Cinema (Is it Worth it)

Hi,

I have three full days in San Frnacisco and was thinking of going to the Foreign Cinema. Is the food here good? They are playing the movie ';Nowwhere in Afirca'; which I am very much interested in seeing. However, I was wondering if it is worth one evening and would I rather dine somewhere else?

Please let me know.

Also, i would be interested in finding some places for breakfast in San Francisco.

Thanks

Shazia

Foreign Cinema (Is it Worth it)

We went in July as I saw this mentioned on a post on trip advisor. That recommendation was ';right on';.

The food was wonderful and one of the top memorable dinners we have gone to this year. If you want to watch the movie, get a courtyard table. THe movie here is more ';background'; if you have an inside table. In terms of food, wonderful.

The restaurant is in a ';non-touristy'; neighborhood so don%26#39;t be surprised by this when you arrive. They do have valet parking in front if you have a car. You will enter the building and see a long hall way - the restaurant is in the back. If you like unique restaurants, you%26#39;ll enjoy this one. Enjoy your trip to San Francisco!

Dont bother going if you want to see the movie. The movie playing with dinner is more of a gimmick. The sound isn%26#39;t that great and there are a lot of distractions when trying to watch the movie. Also the tables are positioned so that only one person if facing the screen. Aside from that, the food is excelent but the drinks are small and overpriced.

Hi Mini,

Thanks for your suggestion. One more question. Can you hear the dialogue if you get a courtyard table or it does not matter. Also, did you see kids here?

The reason why I was thinking of going to Foreign Cinema is because it is in a NON-Touristy neighborhood. It should be fun. I have a two and a half year old and was wondering if it is appropriate. The restuarant manager said I could bring him along but since you have been here, I would like to get your opinion.

Thanks

It%26#39;s not a very kid friendly restaurant. It%26#39;s pretty upscale and like I said before, the movie is just a gimmick you cant expect to be able to watch or hear with all the distractions going on around

Others are right on ... go for the food, not the movie. The tables are crowded together and the restaurant can get noisy ... crowd is on the younger side there, and has good energy, but not what I%26#39;d call a super kid-friendly restaurant.

My husband and I just went last weekend, Nowhere in Africa was playing already. I have to say the food was not spectacular. We live in SF and we weren%26#39;t impressed. I think you go there more for the %26#39;scene%26#39; than the food. I%26#39;ve heard a lot of people agree about the food. I did feel, however, like I was in London for a few hours with the cool architecture.

You will need to eat in the courtyard to %26#39;see%26#39; the movie. Like a pp said, you don%26#39;t really watch the movie since every seat is placed at a 90 degree angle to the screen wall. You also have to tilt your head up as well. No one watched the movie!

However, it was kid-friendly to me. We just had a baby so we were curious because they have a kid%26#39;s menu. I did see several babies and toddlers there and it seemed fine to me.

Go for the scene but not the food.
