Hi, I have asked about some lodgings that I had looked at, and have seen several posts about bidding on priceline. If I go on priceline and bid a ridiculously low price like $50, is there a chance I might get a bad/dangerous area?
I am traveling on a budget, and am looking for rooms that cost not more than $60-$80 per night, is that even realistically possible? My two requirements are that it has to be on a safe street, and secondly, that it be near the Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf area if possible.
Based on the above, is it safe to bid $50 or $60 and get a reasonable room that meets my requirements? I am looking to visit the first week of October.
Thanks again in advance!

Hi TravelGirl,
I just came back from NYC and stayed at the Waldorf=Astoria for 9 nights via booking through Priceline. Saved over $800!! I%26#39;ve booked other hotels through Priceline as well, but you need to do some homework first. To find out what hotels are in each area in Priceline, visit this website: www.biddingfortravel.com. This website was designed exclusively for Priceline users, but NOT BY Priceline. It gives you hotel listings in the various areas/districts, reviews from people who have stayed at these hotels, and most importantly, tips on how much you should be bidding. Do your research there before you bid. Good luck!

Hi,
If you like you could use Hotwire which is a website with hotels with really good prices. I got Hyatt Regency for 100$ a night which is not bad. The added advantage of booking with hotwire is that it tells you in what area the hotel is and what star ratting the hotel is, it doesn%26#39;t tell you the name of the hotel until you have booked.
While you might not get rock rock bottom prices like the ones you quote above, you will get very low hotel prices on hotwire and i would certainly recommend it.
Hope it helps.
Regards,
Conor.
