This weekend lunch recommendation?

My husband and I are planning to go this weekend for a quick birthday trip for me. Unfortunately I don%26#39;t have enough time to plan anything...I was wondering if you have any recommendations for maybe a tapas or spanish style luncheon on Saturday? I saw that Zuzu is not open for lunch on Saturday or Sunday, is there another place that is? If not, do you have any recommendations for lunch?

I noticed that Posticino and Bistro Don Giovan ni are recommended for dinners. Which restaurant is preferred? We were able to book a reservation at the Chateau Hotel on Solano Avenue, are any of these restaurants close by?

I saw recommendations for Frogs Leap, Cakebread, and Del Dotto for tour and wine tasting. I%26#39;ll definitely check to see if they have anything available for this weekend.

The Chateau is on Hwy 29, walking distance to the new Red Hen cantina. That%26#39;s about it for walking distance, though. Fume Bistro is quite close-- about 2 min by car.

There are at least 2 dozen restaurants in Old Town Napa (about 7 min drive from the Chateau). Lots of good stuff, and plenty of free parking.

The only other place I know of w/Tapas is the Culinary Institute of America (aka the ';CIA';)-- it%26#39;s up in St. Helena, just north of Beringer Vineyards.

Don Giovanni is also quite close to the Chateau Hotel-- it%26#39;s also on Hwy 29, about 5 minutes north.

Whatever you do, call and reserve dinner in advance-- especially for weekends. By the time you get here, chances are quite good that these restaurants will be full!

Enjoy your stay in the wine country,

Thank you for your reply. I hope Chateau hotel is a good hotel. Unfortunately I hear that you%26#39;ll need a reservation to get into the CIA for dining. I%26#39;ll try calling them to find out if they have any availability...

You can often just walk in to the CIA and sit at the bar-- but that will not be feasible on a weekend (too busy).

Beware of the prices at the CIA as well-- some of our guests have been shocked when they got their bills!

Do call ahead for anywhere-- it gets really busy here on the weekends. The places that do not take reservations (like Zuzus and Rutherford Grille) often have 1 hr+ waits.
