Day Hikes near Sacramento area

Hi,

I%26#39;m looking to go Hiking with a group of friends this coming weekend for a moderate hike near Sacramento. Any suggestions? I%26#39;m looking for a 4-5 hour hike on a moderate/easy trail.

I know that a lot of people will suggest that we go to Lake Tahoe, but we dont wish to drive more than an hour (maximum 90mins) to get to the trail.

Does anyone know of any good hikes in the Napa region?

Thanks,

Jairam

or hike a part of the American River Trail...

This particular one is interesting to do....

Or if you just want an easy walk I%26#39;d head out to Coloma and walk around the river and enjoy visiting the Gold Rush area....

In Napa, Bothe-State Park is one of your better bets

You might head east up highway 50 to Pollock Pines (it%26#39;s going to be in the 100s in Sacto, pretty darn hot to hike in, PP is much cooler in the mountains) and hike around Jenkinson Lake (also known as Sly Park). You are in the pines, there is shade, and it is lovely. It is only an hour from Sacramento. Stop in Camino at Apple Hill for fruit and snacks, or visit old town Placerville.
