I%26#39;m not too crazy about driving into SF and trying to find parking to tour the town and Alcatraz. I%26#39;ve heard something about a rail system. Is that something we can take from the San Jose area into SF?
Best way to get into San Francisco
This will get you there http://www.caltrain.com/
Best way to get into San Francisco
I agree. Caltrain is the best way to go to SF from San Jose. San Jose Diridon Station to SF is $11r/t (as of my last trip Jun05) and you will be in SF in 1 hr w. Baby Bullet or 1.5 hr otherwise. The last stop in SF is nr SBC Park-SF Giant%26#39;s stadium and you can take SF muni into town or historic trolley from Market St.@Embarcadero to Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf/Pier 39. I prefer having breakfast by the bay at Reds Java House/Pier 30 and then walking all the way up the Embarcadero to Aquatic Park. It%26#39;s a great walk by the water and you can stop at the Ferry Blg. along the way. The other alternative is BART, but you will have to take the 180 bus fr San Jose to Fremont, or drive and maybe pay for parking.
Caltrain price increase Jul05: $13 r/t fr San Jose Diridon to SF.
I urge you to check website in advance. There%26#39;s some changes in service i.e weekday, weekend travel schedules. So far, SF Muni
is still a bargain @ $1.25
then your best bet is to take the caltrain. check their website for train schedules, need to be there on time or a little bit earlier, as the the train leaves the station right on time.
then you can take the #30 or #15 from the train station to Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf...MAKE SURE you take the #30 back to the train station, as it is closer the the #15 on the way back.
effective 9/1/05, bus fare is $1.50 instead of $1.25.
