Where to stay??

Please Help!! WE are coming to San Francisco in May and want a less expensive hotel near Nordstroms and Union Square. I%26#39;ve been online and can%26#39;t make up my mind. We are use to the Westin St. Francis but don%26#39;t want to spend the money this time around...more for shopping and eating.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Where to stay??

Chancellor Hotel is one suggestion...

Where to stay??

If you%26#39;re used to the new rooms of the Westin, I would recommend checking out the Pan Pacific and the Parc 55. They are expensive hotels, but from what I%26#39;ve seen, they have some great specials at times and depending, you may be able to save even more by booking a package through a travel site.

The Chancellor is another option that I would recommend. If you have stayed in the historic tower of the Westin, then the small rooms of the Chancellor should not be a problem for you at all. Do be aware that these rooms are not made for more than 2 people.

Other considerations:

The Powell

The Hotel Des Arts

The Hotel Villa Florence

The Handlery

Why am I getting visions of Punxsutawney Phil and Groundhog Day here .

LOL Oskar! Now that Im reading it, I may agree with you...

The Pickwick is on the same block as Nordstrom. From the hotel, it%26#39;s three blocks, two from Nordstrom, to Union Square, a very nice walk.

There%26#39;s another Nordstrom at Stonestown and Nordstrom Rack is a Ninth and Bryant, not a bad walk but one of little interest.

The ';Don%26#39;t-miss sights in San Francisco'; page geocities.com/iconoc/Articles/Sights.html has enough to keep you busy for nine twelve-hour days.

The best on-line map of San Francisco is an inter-active PDF: geocities.com/iconoc/Grafix/MuniMap.gif. Click on it to get the *.PDF. I recommend 200-400% magnification. A creation of the San Francisco Municipal Railway, it includes all of its routes.

The frequently-updated SPECIAL EVENTS page has irregularly-scheduled music and dances as well as links to seven calendars of regularly-scheduled dances, a composite of five of them, and one of dance cruises and events around the world: geocities.com/dancefest/Specials.html#t
