Hyatt Regency Newport Beach--why the strongly diverging...

Hi,

I will be staying at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach Feb 21-26. In looking at the trip advisor forums there are WIDELY varying reviews on this hotel. Any locals (or others--recent guests at the Hyatt) with an explanation. It is an older hotel but reportedly was recently extensively renovated.

What gives?
