hotel somewhat convenient to Universal Studios, LA, for 6...

Iam trying to find a suite type hotel that is convenient to Universal Studios in CA. Hopefully they serve breakfast. What is the best location and hotel?

Check out the Orchid Suites in Hollywood. It%26#39;s very close to the Metro that takes you directly to Universal Studio, and is walking distance from other sights like the Walk of Fame.

Within a few minutes to Universal are two MODEST hotels:

The Orchid Suites (which is behind the Chinese Theatre

and

The Comfort Inn and Suites (a national chain of modest hotels):

In nearby Burbank is the Best Western Media Center Inn %26amp; Suites -- a little better quality than the 2 prior. (10 minute commute):

Tell us more about your price range, quality required and how far from Universal you would consider ';convenient';.

We would like a nicer quality hotel in a good neighborhood - one we can walk to restaurants, etc. Is Burbank the place to be?Thanks

Burbank is a very nice area. Actually many studios are located in Burbank. If you stay at a hotel close to the Media Center it%26#39;s close and walking distance to a variety of restaurants, movie theaters, and it%26#39;s very lively during the weekends. Hopskipjump already gave you a recommendation of a hotel in Burbank. There%26#39;s also the Holiday Inn at the Burbank Media Center. There%26#39;s 2 towers. I believe one of them are for suites. And it%26#39;s close to Universal Studios.

Thanks for your help. Any other suggestions for our trip are appreciated. 2 days in LA at Universal and 4 days in the Palm Springs area.

You should be able to do Universal in one day. Get there early and do the tram ride first. Warner Brothers Studio is nearby and they also offer studio tours. Their tour is a little more intimate then the Universal tour, maybe 10 or so in a group. Takes about two hours. If you%26#39;re there during the week you might see a few actors. My daughters are big ';Gilmore Girl'; fans and enjoyed seeing the ';GG'; set. You should probably call ahead for the WB tour if you are interested in it.

Sherton Universal and Universal Hilton are right at the theme park. It doesn%26#39;t get much more convenient then that. I don%26#39;t know why these other guys are pointing you to Hollywood. Also consider the Sportsmen%26#39;s Lodge Hotel in Studio City.

Amen to that, Straightdope.

I%26#39;d choose the Hilton. If you want to venture out, you can drive anywhere from here with easy access to the freeway, and public transport is available at the bottom of the hill. I think this is your best bet.
