Small Wineries

I%26#39;m heading back to Napa/Sonoma in a few weeks and my girlfriend and I are trying to find good small production wineries to visit.

The last time we where in the area (about 6 months ago) we did the big ones, but would now like to try something new.

thansk for the help.

Small Wineries

In St. Helena, I like Freemark Abbey and in Sonoma, check out Imagery. Cheers and have a fun trip! Spring is a gorgeous time to visit the Wine Country! :)

Small Wineries

Go to healdsburg and head out Westside Road

Wonderful and different wineries...

then have dinner in downtown Healdsburg.

There are wine stores there also to taste wine.

There are over 100 wineries in this general area (i.e. Russian River - Alexander Valley - and each are unique and different.)

If you happen to be going March 3-5, they have barrel tastings Weekpend

So if the frew weeks coincide with this, consider yourself lucky!

You could have an early lunch in Healdsburg (no. Sonoma County) and from there you can easily visit a number of excellent small wineries. Favorites of mine are Everett Ridge on W. Dry Creek Rd. (gorgeous views), and on Westside Rd: Armida, Roshambo (pretty view, very interesting/edgy art), Belvedere Winery (wonderful winery gardens), and Hop Kiln (historic old building with nice picnic grounds), and Porter Creek--and many, many others.

And, in the Glen Ellen area, Imagery (www.imagerywinery.com) is definitely a wonderful small winery to visit. They have a large art collection inc. a great display of ';label art'; to view. Nice grounds, view and very attractive tasting room, too. I like their White Burgundy and Port--delicious!

Also wanted to recommend a few small Napa Valley wineries to visit: Cakebread Cellars (www.cakebread.com) bet. Rutherford and Oakville, Peju Province (www.pejuprovince.com) nr. Rutherford, Hall Winery (www.hallwines.com) in St. Helena, and Clos Pegase (www.clospegase.com) just so. of Calistoga. All are off Hwy. 128 and beside having a wonderful selection of wines, also have art, architecture and/or gardens that are very worthwhile seeing.
