Running over the golden gate bridge...in training you see!

ok my wife and i are running in the Niagara Falls ½ marathon in october 21st and are staying at the Westin St francis on 5th -9th Oct.

We may sound fit but we generally blag out way round races with lots of walks etc finishing in just over 2 hours.

As part of our training we want to run over the golden gate bridge and back again. How far would this be door to door? How far from the westin st francis to the start of the bridge. gow long is the bridge? Is it hilly running to the bridge?

To be honest if its too hard i will quite happily forget it!!

cheers

Running over the golden gate bridge...in training you see!

You are looking at about 14 miles round trip (more than a half marathon. If you run east to Davis St, then turn left, you will hit the Embarcadero. Stay on the shoreline of the bay. There are 2 climbs, both about 200%26#39;, 1 in Fort Mason, the other to the bridge from the shoreline. You could just run one way and keep going into Sausalito, a couple more miles ( all downhill) and take the ferry back.

Or take a bus to the toll plaza, run across the bridge (1.7 miles) continue to Sausalito. Take the ferry back to Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf or the Ferry Building (about 4 miles total)

Here is a map with some mileage markers and route laid out.
