My in-laws are coming from Engalnd. While I know that Coronado is just beautiful, I thought Mission Beach would be nice, if they wanted to just go out on their own in the evening since we have 2 small children. What do you think?
Another question....Mission beach or Coronado?Mission Beach is nice and safe, but it tends to draw more of a younger, louder crowd - more of the late teens to twenty somethings. It%26#39;s a completely different atmosphere than Coronado, where Coronado tends to be less crowded and more sedate, Mission Beach in the summer has lots of people, lots of noise, lots of parties. Fun place to stay, just a lot more crowded. If they%26#39;re your in-laws, I think Coronado would be more to their liking.
Another question....Mission beach or Coronado?If you stay on the side of the island where Hotel Del Coronado is your parents can have a variety of place to go out in the evening to eat or for cocktails. On the other side they can have dinner/cocktails on the water with a great view of the city. It%26#39;s an easy cab (couple of mins) from one side to the other. As far as entertainment, evening shopping, people watching, movie theaters they can take a cab over to Downtown. Or the Ferry.
I think Coronado is a classier location. It has a nice small town feel so they can just stroll down the main street and be easily off on their own.
coronado is classier and more groomed indeed. mission beach is more flavorful. hippies, an old wooden roller coaster.
whichever you choose, i would not worry. both are great destinations.
