Hi! I%26#39;m always looking for ideas on Day Trips/over night stay in the Bay Area. My husband and I like to go on a lot of these kind of ';Bay Area Backroads'; type of trips. Just wondering if there are any spots we%26#39;ve missed. Nothing more than a 2 hour drive. What are your favorites?

Napa, Sonoma, Bodega Bay, Monterey, Carmel, Old Town Sacramento, Jules Pfeiffer State Park, Healdsburg, Forestville, Santa Rosa, Clear Lake, Jamestown, Columbia Gold Town, Jackson, San Juan Bautista, Pt. Reyes, Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz; camping at one of the state parks Santa Cruz Mounains, Alameda (the shoreline), Occidental, Jenner, Lake Berryessa, and all spots within here and 2 hours a way.

Outlet shopping in Gilroy.

Napa outlets are not as good but the scenery and drive are alot prettier.

I just got back from a 2-day trip to Half Moon Bay. The highlight was a guided tour at Ano Nuevo, where the elephant seals come to breed. We saw hundreds of them--the enormous males (who can get up to 5000 lbs and 15-feet long), the females and the pups, who are adorable. If you haven%26#39;t done that, I highly recommend it. The tours are given Jan through March. This is a good time of the year to go.

The Marin Headlands with the Marine Mammal Center and Ft. Cronkhite beach; Angel Island; At Pt. Reyes: the museum, the walk among the remnants of the 1906 earthquake (its epicenter), the fallow (white) dear, the National Park Service%26#39;s Morgan Horse raising facility, and Limantur and Drake%26#39;s Beaches. The Golden Gate Transit Larkspur Ferry; the ferry to Tiburon; Mt. Tamalpais. The new Robert %26amp; Magritt (sp) Mondavi performance center (Wow!) at UC, Davis, when they have big-name entertainment that interests you. Cache Creek casino when they have big-name entertainment that interests you (very impressive almost-new facility in the middle of nowhere). Lunch or dinner in Crockett; Clayton; the Delta, combined with a tour of the huge Jelly Belly Candy Co. factory.
