Which should we fly in to? We are planning on staying 3 days in San Francisco and then getting a rental car (most like from the airport) and driving to Napa for a couple of days. Which airport is most convenient for this. How far away is each to San Francisco and Napa. Thanks.
San Francisco airport or oakland airport?
It is easier to get to downtown from SFO than from the Oakland airport. It would also be easier to rent a car from one of the rental locations in the downtown area rather than go all the way back to the airport. SFO is actually located about 12 miles south of San Francisco proper. Napa is about 45 miles away and should take about an hour depending on traffic.
San Francisco airport or oakland airport?
I think you should go to the airport with the best deal. I know Southwest, for example only flies into Oakland. It is very easy to get into San Francisco from Oakland. You can rent a car more cheaply from sites away from the airport anyway.
This was discussed at some length on the Forum not that long ago.
We have flown into both airports on numerous occasions and although SFO is a little closer I really cant say we have ever had a bad experience with Oakland in any way at all.
If the best deal for you is Oakland then take it.
thanks all. we got the best deal going into Oakland.
