2 Night stay LA

In transit in LA Wed/Fri of this week (4 adults) Any suggestions re moderately priced hotel (maybe with airport shuttle as we are outbound on different flights)?

Plan to go to Pacific Palisades for half day and may also visit Santa Monica.

2 Night stay LA

I don%26#39;t know of any hotels that have a shuttle (outside of the LAX hotels). And most hotels in Santa Monica are not ';moderately'; priced. Did you look here? Of the list, I recommend Ambrose and California and Shangri La

Taxi fare for the 4 of you should run about $25 if you stay on the Westside (Santa Monica, West LA, Brentwood, Westwood, etc).

An inexpensive hotel on the westside is the Westwood Pacific Hotel:

This is part of the giant BEST WESTERN Hotel chain which, although now the largest international hotel chain, had its beginnings here in the Western United States. Not a fancy place, but great, central location to the westside of L.A. near the corner of the 405 Freeway and Santa Monica Bl.

There are buses that run on Santa Monica Bl that will take you on the 15 minute journey to the beach at Santa Monica (and its city centre).

Pacific Palisades is just north of Santa Monica so it is accessible either by a second bus or by taxi.

BTW, there is a city bus that you can take to get you to the airport if you don%26#39;t want to spend the $25 for the taxi each time. It requires you to walk a few blocks east to the corner of Sepulveda Bl and Santa Monica Bl (a major intersection). From there, take the #6 Culver City bus headed south (a right turn from Santa Monica Bl). 46 minutes later (at a cost of 75 cents), you will be dropped at the LAX Transit Center (which is a fancy name for the area that the buses pull in which is 1/2 km (1/4 mile) from the outside of the gates to LAX. You then need to walk into the parking area that is next to the bus area that is called PARKING LOT C and take the free shuttle bus into the airport -- it stops at evety terminal. You may have to wait up to 15 minutes for the next bus. The whole trip could take as long as 1 hour and 15 minutes -- a lot longer than a taxi ride of about 20 minutes but, of course, a lot cheaper.

Many tks for both replys. We are willing to catch bus or taxi to Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades, but, need a shuttle to airport. We need three star hotel located nth, nth/west of LAX perhaps shopping and eateries close by to use as a base.

tks again
