Looking for a reasonably priced, place on the lake, or at least assured lake or mountain view. Coming for a wedding on 6-10, but intend to stay an extra 3 days. We want to be somewhat close to hiking, want to see Emerald Bay. Want to be outside at least 2 of those days. Good places to eat...overall vacation tips.
Thanks - Kathy

HI!
We just stayed at a placed call Three Peaks Lodge which has it%26#39;s own private beach @the Lake (course we were there in Winter and didn%26#39;t go to the Lake). We could see the lake from the room we had. I%26#39;m sure they have a website with more info. They have various types of accomodations and we thought it was a good deal for the $$. Outdoor hot tub and pool.
The location was great as it was about three block up and over to the Casinos, if that%26#39;s something you are into; also across street from Heavenly Village which has many restaurants, movie theatre, shops. Great rib place on Hwy 50, on the corner of Park Ave and 50. Also, at Heavenly Village is Fire and Ice - mongolian BBQ type place. Fun, but crowded. Also try the restaurant at Harvey%26#39;s called 19th Floor. Very good, little $$$ but worth it. Also, try to go to the buffet @Harrah%26#39;s on the 18th floor. Great food for the $$$.
You can drive to hiking from the South Shore and Emerald Bay is about 20 minutes by car.

I have been to tahor many times and recommend staying in a vacation rental. I know of two good ones. One in the Tahoe Keys resort (150 steps to the lake) and one about 7 miles from the casinos surrounded by forest service land. Let me know if you want the links.
I live very close to Tahoe, so I can%26#39;t recommend hotels as we never stay in them!
For food, here%26#39;s what we like:
South Lake Tahoe, near the Stateline, amongst all the tourist tee shirt shops, is Womack%26#39;s BBQ, real southern food. Great sweet tea and sweet potato pie, and the ribs are great! It%26#39;s a hole in the wall, don%26#39;t expect ambiance, though. On the lake side of the main drag.
South Lake Tahoe, east of the ';Y'; intersection, on the lake side, is Izzy%26#39;s Burger Shack. Again, another hole in the wall, but great burgers, onion rings, and malted milk shakes!!
For nice dining, but not intimate, but with an outstanding view: Lake Forest buffet, it%26#39;s on the 18th or 19th floor of Harrah%26#39;s hotel/casino on the south Nevada side of the lake. Go about a 1/2 hour before sunset. Great food, but pricey at about $26/each.
Lots of outdoors stuff to do. If late June, swimming at Pope Beach is to die for, and tubing in the lazy Truckee river in Tahoe City is great, or whitewater rafting in Placerville. If you are going early June, though, the water is melted snowmelt and VERY cold!
