Hoping to stay at Pines Resort 25th April for 2 nights en route to Vegas from San Fran. We%26#39;ll be in rented cars so want to be sure we don%26#39;t have to use snow chains. Can anyone advise as to whether this pace will do?
Also, what are the basic Chalets like?
Pines Resort
Have you read the user reviews in the left menu of hotels on this page? There are some recent ones. If they give you pause, perhaps you could check out Fish Camp closer to the Yosemite entrance since in two days, I imagine you will want to go to the Valley?
Late April the roads in Yosemite will probably be clear and it will be quite late in the season for a storm. Alternatively, there are shuttle tours out of Oakhurst with pick ups in Fish Camp. Narrow Gauge Inn or the property with cabins next to the Tenaya Lodge resort may suit you, if you do want another option to Bass Lake. Seems there are two categories of rooms there with the suites being very much more superior. You can read reviews on the Fish Camp forum left hand side hotels menu.
Pines Resort
I haven%26#39;t stayed in the Chalets, but my kids have several times and they%26#39;re fine, just basic, some have great views of the lake.
IMO, it is worth it to splurge a bit and stay in one of the spa-king lakeview suites. You get early check-in, gorgeous views of the lake, a spa tub, breakfast delivered to your room in the am, access to the pool/jacuzzi until 12 midnight, robes, the whole pampering bit. We like the restaurant there, Ducey%26#39;s on the Lake. We%26#39;ll be staying there soon and I%26#39;ll report back on how it goes. We stay there about once or twice a year and frequent their restaurant several times a year.
Happy Valentine%26#39;s Day! :)
We stayed at the Pines Resort for Valentine%26#39;s night and it, again, was very nice. I booked the spa-suite at the beginning of the year for this night, and we made our dinner reservations well in advance for Valentine%26#39;s night.
We were in Suite 5 which was very nice with gorgeous views of the lake. Our dinner at Ducey%26#39;s was wonderful, they offered a fixed price meal for $35/pp which included a fresh green or Caesar salad, steak and lobster and a yummy decadant chocolate dessert for two to share. We brought in a bottle of Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir to go with our meal.
Carnations were handed out, there was live, romantic music playing and some of the tables had rose petals on them. I%26#39;ll post a review of our stay on this site later with some photos I took of the property.
The resort was full of visitors enjoying themselves, and if they too, had positive experiences I hope they will post about them on the TA review site for this property. :)
Just wanted to add that they also have a casual Bar %26amp; Grill, where we have had many nice lunches. We also had lunch there yesterday and it was very good. You can dine out on the patio or in the dining room with gorgeous views of Goat Mountain and Bass Lake. :)
