SD in two days! need tips and recs, please!!

Hello everybody!

We are arriving in two days to San Diego and would like very much to have your thoughts and opinions on what to do...

We are a couple on our mid-30%26#39;s, living in NYC, no kids, and are arriving to SD Thursday morning (and leaving Saturday night in the red-eye). We would be most grateful if you told us your opinion/tips on what to do. We are staying in Humprey%26#39;s Half Moon Inn and the only thing that we HAVE TO do is go to a concert in the Symphony Hall Thursday night.

There are two things that we want to do:

1. go whale watching while kayaking. How is the weather this time of year? Any recommended or favourite companies?

2. Eat sushi. A friend recommended us three restaurants: Nobu Gourmet Japanese Restaurant (is it from the Nobu restaurant chain?), Meiki Japanese Restaurant, Sushi USA, Sushi Ota. We are into great sushi, fresh fish; we don%26#39;t need the ambience and love to sit at the sushi bar. Any favourites?

We would also like recommendations on breakfast or other type of restaurants. We don%26#39;t have plans to go to the zoo or sea world. So, any other recommendations will be more than welcome.

Thank you for any feed back,

Esther

sushi Ota gets fabulous reviews(haven%26#39;t been there) they say it%26#39;s not fancy but very authentic and delicious. Lots of Japanese people like it.Check out signonsandiego.com Will you have a car? More later

Hi riffsmom,

Yes, we will have a car and don%26#39;t mind using it to go to restaurants or places...

Thanks for your answer.

OK more info Try hikebikekayak.com I didn%26#39;t know you could do whale watching from a kayak. thanks for teaching me something new. The weather has been extra mild(no blizzard like you guys) It%26#39;s been in the mid 70s. Of course tomorrow they say it%26#39;s going back down to the 60s. We%26#39;ve had some pretty big waves too but last week was the full moon so this week should be better. Fun breakfast at Hash House A-go-go. Beautiful restaurant inBalboa Park called The Prado also new musical-before Broadway in The Old Globe(in balboa Park) Twyla Tharp with music by Bob Dylan.(like the one she did with Billy Joel) Extraordinary Deserts-another restaurant and try cohnrestaurants.com for a few more interesting ones where you can read menus. We are ex-NYkers and we%26#39;re having guests this weekend too. Have fun!!!

Also, Great place for lunch or dinner is Geroges on the Cove in La Jolla, Seats along the edge on the ocean bistro are to best...You may want to try to go between lunch or dinner times due to high traffic to the restaurant.
