Any advice on getting married in Lake Tahoe?

Hi there. My fiance %26amp; i are planing to visit California, from the UK, in October for a wedding %26amp; honeymoon. Lake Tahoe is the place we%26#39;re planning on getting married but i%26#39;m looking for some advice,

Q - is north or south best?

Q - should we book the whole thing with the hotel or would we be better booking a hotel and then booking a wedding package with one of the many co-ordinators i%26#39;ve seen on line?

Q - Any tips on romantic lakeside hotels?

Any advice appreciated.

Any advice on getting married in Lake Tahoe?

I%26#39;d go through Zephyr Cove

They can arrnge for a shoreline wedding and then you can enjoy a lake cruise on Ms. Dixie following.....(they have dinner cruises.)

There is also lodging here. Its close to South Shore which is fun if you enjoy nighttime activities.

Congratulations!

Thanks for your response - it must be fate as i was looking at the zephyr cove site when you replied ;-)

Here%26#39;s a couple of ideas for a (smaller group) summer wedding in South Lake Tahoe that I posted earlier this month.

Harrah%26#39;s has a very nice yacht that allows private weddings (up to 36 guests). For more information go to:

I went up in a hot air ballon in August. The party of 12 in front of my group was a wedding party. For more information go to:

I hope this helps.

I have been to Lake Tahoe several hundred times and been to both weddings on south and north side. The south side one was in Caesars casino. It was my cousins and I believe he paid a few thousand for everything. I have also been to one at Sunny Side lodge/resturant in North shore. Beautiful, beautiful deck to get married on. I am not sure (but imagien there is) wedding coordinators in Tahoe. If you tell you what you are looking for, I can try and help out more. I am planning my wedding in Maui in November, so congrats to you too.

We were married in South Lake Tahoe so I am partial of course. And in Zephyr cove too! We used www.beautifultahoeweddings.com and booked a package, they allowed us to mix and match the things we wanted. The minister was wonderful and the scenery and photos were so amazing. We held the ceremony outside on the beach and even in mid January I didn%26#39;t notice the cold and the snow made the backdrop of the pics so fantastic. Good luck and congratulations!

If you%26#39;re up for an outdoor wedding, I highly recommend Sand Harbour Beach: aboutlaketahoe.com/beaches/sand-harbor.htm. Your wedding photos will surely come out great with amazing colors of the water and beach there.

The Hyatt at Incline Village, is a short drive North, and would be a lovely place to stay.

Congratulations!

Thanks for all the advice. We%26#39;re now thinking about Zephyr Cove to stay and booking a package through a wedding co-ord company.

Zephyr Cove is good. Anywhere on the water. Heavenly Mountain also does weddings at the restaurant where the tram lets off so then you are looking down at the lake instead of being right on it. If you need massages while you are here, check out www.massageattahoe.com. A different place to stay than a typical hotel would be the Black Bear Inn in South Lake Tahoe. Good luck!

We went to a Sunday brunch at the Sunnyside in Tahoe City (north shore). It was lovely, on the deck overlooking Lake Tahoe. Not private, though, but all of us non-wedding guests minded our manners! Food at the brunch was great, and we saw that the wedding party had an area and room reserved for their reception. Another idea might be to go through a coordinator and have a ceremony lakeside, then go someplace like Sunnyside for the reception. Sunnyside is also a nice hotel.
