Moving to Pleasant Hill-where to live?

I will be attending JFK University in Pleasant Hill next year to complete my Masters degree. I will be on a tight student budget and would like to know what some good communities to live in that are reasonably priced (under $900 for 1 bedroom). I will have a car but would like to be near some public transport to go into the Bay area etc.

Thanks!

Megan

$900 for a 1 bedroom is going to be tough. I am guessing 1 bedrooms go for around $1200. You could probably swing a studio for $900. The Bay Area is one of the most expensive areas to live on the West Coast, sorry.

Hard to know what your definition of ';good community'; is....and within a city, there are good parts of town and bad parts of town.

Having said that start looking in Pleasant Hill and some parts of Concord (Concord has nice areas and not so nice areas). Walnut Creek is very nice but probably out of your budget at $900. Antioch and Rodeo would be a distant 2nd.

Most inexpensive housing, on a BART line, in the general area will be Bay Point. But it is very far from JFK.

I know alot of people won%26#39;t consider shared housing but it is really amazing how much more you get, for less money if you are willing to compromise and share a 2 bedroom with another JFK student. Since you say you will be on a tight budget, I%26#39;d check the JFK housing boards and look into it, to get the most bang for your buck. Good luck.
