Hi, can anyone share a rout from San Francisco to Palm Springs that is quick and avoids traffic. I am leaving at 10 am Monday.
Mapquest is I5 to 210 but is it safer to go around the mountians via Palmdale?
Thanks

I take the 5 to the 210 to the 10. Its a long drive no matter what.
Try not to be passing thru LA at rush hour am or pm.
But at some point youre going to have to get on the 10 to get to PS so avoiding traffic isnt likely. It can take 2 hours from Ontario in traffic.

When we went down Dec. 26, everyone was on the road and it was awful. After spending three hours to go 100 miles getting out of the Bay Area, we were determined to find another route to avoid the greater L.A. area.
So... we did and never worried about traffic after that.
From I-5 we cut over to I-99 via Hwy 46 (at Lost Hills)
We switched to Hwy 58 in Bakersfield (stopping for a quick bite at Sizzler right off I-99) and headed southeast, through Tehachapi, Mojave, Edwards, and just past Boron to Kramer Junction.
We took Hwy 395 south from Kramer Junction all the way down to I-15
Cut onto I-215 briefly, then
Took I-10 all the way east to Palm Springs.
to went through Bakersfield
If you%26#39;re leaving SF at 10am, I dont think you want to be on the 215 OR the 10 at the time you will be getting there.
