Lake Tahoe in April?

Hi, might be spending a week at the Beachcomber, in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Never have been there, have no idea what there is to do, how the weather is, what attractions are a day%26#39;s drive away, etc.... any one with any info would be great, esp. info on weather and the Beachcomber. Thanks!

Hi Jenny,

If you go to the Western Regional Climate Center, it will give you average temps: http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/cgi-bin/cliMAIN.pl?cataho+nca

In April, the max temp is 51 degrees and min temp is 27 degrees. Average rainfall is 2 inches, snowfall is 16 inches, and snow depth is 13 inches.

Because of the ';spring'; weather, you never know if it will be skiing weather or not. It just depends on what kind of a year it is. If there is snow, there is skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, casinos, etc. If it is warmer, you can hike. I don%26#39;t know if the paddlewheelers run in ';snowy'; weather, but you can do that as well.

A days%26#39;s drive away, depends on how far you want to drive. You can be down in warmth in Sacramento in less than 2 hours. April is lovely. San Francisco is about another 2 hours beyond that. On the way to Sacramento is Placerville, a nice historic town, and highway 49, that runs through ';gold'; country. In Nevada is Reno, but I don%26#39;t know much beyond what I go to do in Reno...you might try the Nevada forum.

So, it might be a tad warmer than the Northeast Kingdom, but there won%26#39;t be any sugaring going on here!

What types of activities do you like to do, maybe that will help more people answer?

Jenny -

I ski a ton in the Sierras all season long, and in April the Spring skiing is perfect. There are sometimes snow storms throughout April (2004 saw 90 inches of snow), sometimes it%26#39;s t-shirt weather as it was in 2005.
