Big Sur for Christmas - where to stay

Hello - My husband and I are looking for recommendations for places to stay over the Christmas holiday. Is Big Sur a good place to spend the holiday? Are there better areas anyone can suggest?

We will be coming from Los Angeles and I will be about 6 months pregnant at the time - so we don%26#39;t want to rough it too much, but cannot stay anywhere too expensive. We may also bring our dogs.

Thanks for your suggestions - any are appreciated!!

You may find that Carmel , Pacific Grove or Monterey give you more choices OR stay in Cambria along Moonstone Beach and you can still take a drive for part of Big Sur for the day. Also

Megan, Big Sur is beautiful, but you might be more comfortable staying in the Monterey area and making a day trip to Big Sur. Carmel is known for being dog-friendly.Here%26#39;s a site you can check:http://www.monterey-carmel.com/Dog_Friendly_Hotels_in_Carmel.htm

Hi Megan- I agree with the other posts. Big Sur is beautiful but I think you would be better off in the other areas. I love Cambria and I%26#39;ve been there at Christmas time. The town is really sweet and there are a lot of nice restaurants. If you stay along the beach, there%26#39;s a great walking area. I always see people walking their dogs around there.
