Hi All,
I would really love some input on these hotels.
We ( family 2 adults and 3 kids 11-15) are spending 2 days in SD in November. We will have a car and are planning on doing sea world, zoo and looking around downtown and Coranado.
Hotel choices with availability-
Budget-Innsuites $99 p/n ( 2 q and sofa)
Mid-Best Western Bayview- about $120p/n ( 2 doubles not sure if can get rollaway yet)
Most exp- Dana on Mission bay- bayview suite $186 (2 q %26amp; sofa)
Thank you , in anticipation!
Help with Hotel choicesInnsuites - nice location, safe, quiet residential area, quick, short drive, or walk to a lot of restaurants and shops, about a mile from Balboa Park (www.balboapark.org) and the zoo, a couple miles to downtown, easy access to freeways in order to get to other attractions - in University Heights, one of my favorite neighborhoods
http://gothere.com/UniversityHeights/
Note: I understand they will be doing some remodeling this winter, so would check to be sure that they won%26#39;t be having construction and the related noise while you%26#39;re there.
Best Western Bayview - nice location downtown, again close to restaurants and shops in easy walking distance, also close to trolley (train) to get to Old Town, etc., blocks from Little Italy (www.littleitalysd.com) and San Diego Bay with lots to do for the kids www.thebigbay.com, a couple miles to the zoo, easy access to freeways to get to other attractions, and could take the passenger ferry from the bay to Coronado
Dana - well reviewed hotel right on Mission Bay (might be chilly that time of year that close to the water) nice location, lots of restaurants and shops within relatively easy driving distance, but not as conveniently located (other than for Sea World) as the other two - but still easy drive
I don%26#39;t think you can go wrong with any of these choices. I would stay in any without hesitation.
Help with Hotel choicesThanks Chissis,
Could you give me some idea of how long it could take to walk from Best Western to Seaport Village?
The hotel seems to be away a bit from the touristy spots, and I am finding it hard to get a feel for distances.
Thanks
Roxy
I can walk it in about 10 minutes ~ I%26#39;m a rather fast walker, but it%26#39;s not that far, about 7 blocks. Here%26#39;s a link to a map of the distances, although this is a driving route, you can see that the walking route would be shorter. Also, you can click satellite and get a satellite view, or hybrid and get a satellite with the addreses overlaid, and you can zoom in and move the map to look around downtown.

Bump.
Any other thouhts?
You might look at Sommerset Suites in Hillcrest (about a mile or so west of Innsuites), nice, safe neighborhood with lots of restaurants and shops in easy walking distance, 1 mile to the zoo and Balboa Park, quick access to the freeways to get to other areas and explore. Just a thought...
thanks Chissis,
The location looks similar to Innsuites, but they look like more roomy accoms.
My main concern with both of these hotels is the driving to Downtown and parking.
We will want to spend some afternoon time and stay for dinner in Downtown.
How easy is it to get parking around (or within walking distance) of Seaport Village area?
Thank you
You can almost always find parking, it%26#39;s just that you have to pay for it. Usually they stop checking the meters at 6PM though, so it%26#39;s not too bad. The lot at Seaport Village will give you I think 2-3 hours free with a purchase (even ice cream can get the ticket stamped) and also 2-3 hours free at Horton Plaza (I always ask Nordstrom to stamp, and they do). I can usually find street metered parking in the evenings near Seaport Village on Kettner Blvd just north of Harbor Drive. There are also meters around the Embarcardero near Seaport Village as well.
Thank you so much!!
