Hey guys,
ok I need some help quite urgently...!!
I%26#39;m gona be arriving in LA on 31st August and will be staying till 8th Sep. I%26#39;m travelling with my boyfriend and 2 friends and we would like to stay around santa monica/venice beach area and also maybe huntingdon beach/orange county area. Can anyone suggest any cheap hotels in both areas? Santa Monica will probably be easier to book, but Orange County I have no idea where to start! I%26#39;m starting to panic a bit now so any help at all would be greatly appreciated!! Also...Labor day weekend...will it be hard to get a hotel?
You probably think i%26#39;m so unorganised but i%26#39;ve been working at a summer camp where we had no time to plan anything!!! Sorry guys, but any help/advice would be great!!
Thanks :-)
Help Needed...quite urgently!!
Because it%26#39;s Labor Day weekend, you%26#39;ll find most everything booked. Your best bet is to spend the time online and get whatever you can get that%26#39;s clean, central, and within your budget.
There are many motels throughout Santa Monica and Venice, here%26#39;s a link to most that will fit your needs, it%26#39;s just a matter of availability:

Cheap in Santa Monica is going to be hard to find, but not impossible. If you can find something between $100-$150 per night (for something a notch or two above a dive), I%26#39;d say that%26#39;s pretty good. Check out the usual sites like Expedia, Travelosity, and my own personal favorite AirGorilla.com
orange county area is cheap, you are looking at around 45/nite for hyatt regency level accomodations through priceline for your period of travel.
Santa Monica you are probably looking at a hundred a nite or more even through priceline
i suggest you go look at sites such as betterbidding.com to see the relative prices people are paying for your time frame and accomodations.
hey Leoni,
It is still summer, so room rates may still be up, but you are arriving on a weekday. I%26#39;d try Ambrose Hotel in Santa Monica, it may fit your budget.
I think you can find something good in Orange County. Try Laguna Beach. There are many hotels/motels that are oceanfront that may fit your budget. Huntington Beach is also a good bet. We were just in Laguna 2 weekends ago, and I%26#39;m always amazed by that place. Plus the free summer shuttle runs until Sept 4. They are going both directions North/South of Laguna. In fact you can just take both shuttles and have a free tour around town. I%26#39;d suggest you take it to see some parts of town, not just the main beach. Some of the views and coastline are amazing from the north side of Laguna!
Good luck and have fun! If you were here this weekend, the weather will be hot hot hot! But the beaches are always comfortable and beautiful.
Thanks guys! Much appreciated, i%26#39;ll check everything out, although now i%26#39;m thinking about staying somewhere more central rather than santa monica so i can try to get something cheaper. Maybe Downtown Hollywood...
For something less than $100/night in West Hollywood, try the Orbit Hotel in Melrose Ave. Fantastic location!
I actually stayed there about 5 years ago...not the best experience - ants in the room, bad bed... kinda put me off....
I%26#39;ve foiund something in hollywood, just having trouble with Laguna beach - anyone know any cheap motels near the beach? We won%26#39;t have a car so we need something quite near to all the action!
Sorry to hear about your experiences there. An acquaintance was just telling me about this place, he had just stayed there a few months ago. For his experiences at the time he was okay with the place.
A couple of places in Laguna Beach(check Tripadvisor for others reviews on these hotels):
Laguna Riviera Resort
The Tides Inn
Vacation Village
Best Western Laguna Reef
All are located on the Pacific Coast Highway, and close to downtown(accessible to the free summer shuttle service) and some are ocean or beachfront.
PS-When you%26#39;re in Laguna, there%26#39;s the main beach. But be sure to check out Heisler Park in North Laguna, beautiful vistas and trails from here. And Aliso Creek Beach(south Laguna). They%26#39;re all accessible via free shuttle.
If you can get the Laguna Riviera Resort Hotel, that would be great! I know they are very popular and they do get full but I%26#39;d still try. it%26#39;s a hotel that%26#39;s right on the beach that have rooms for less than $100/night during high and low season. And it%26#39;s a gem of a place, family owned, continental breakfast included, indoor pool with a open/close rooftop to allow sunshine, close to all the shops, galleries, restaurants of downtown Laguna, and it%26#39;s oceanfront. We stayed there for 2 nights a few years ago and loved it. I agree, Laguna is beautiful. My inlaws who have been staying with us for a month loves Laguna Beach. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll enjoy it also! Have fun!!
