Have read so many comments but am so confused on where to stay with husband and 7yr old girl. Would like to be able to walk to Rodeo Drive close to shops and in an area where we feel safe to walk to restaurants. We are only there for 2 nights before heading down to Anaheim for 5 nights. Want to go to Farmers Market and Centure Plaza shops and do Stars Homes Tour.
Had considered Crown Plaza. Any other suggestions.
So Confused! Hotel AdviceCrowne Plaza looks like an excellent choice close walk to the center of Beverly Hills and priced well. Also convenient location to take a taxi to Farmer%26#39;s Market/The Grove that won%26#39;t set you back ($) too much.
So Confused! Hotel AdviceThe Farmer%26#39;s Daughter Hotel (115 S. Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles) would be my suggestion, if you can get a room. The price range is similar to the Crowne Plaza but the location and style of the hotel will better suit your needs.
Here%26#39;s why:
1. Being able to walk to Rodeo Drive is convenient for only that. Beverly Hills is an amusing little area to visit but there%26#39;s no point in staying there unless you stay at a luxury hotel. The Crowne Plaza is, well, cheap by Beverly Hills standards because it%26#39;s located on the edge of the city (the building next to the hotel is actually outside the Beverly Hills city limit -- and is located in Los Angeles!). The hotel is located in an area with ';neighborhood shopping'; -- some restaurants but nothing very interesting.
2. The Farmer%26#39;s Daughter is 3 miles from Rodeo Drive (east and a little bit north). It would take about 8 minutes to drive there or you could take the #714 bus from the corner of Fairfax and Beverly (1/2 block from the hotel) to Santa Monica Bl and Canon Dr (and walk one block to Rodeo). The MTA.NET website says that trip should take about 12 minutes and will cost $1.25. (You can buy a %26#39;day pass%26#39; for $3).
3. The Hotel is decorated in a farm motif which is fun for kids and parents alike, and is located across the street from the ';Farmer%26#39;s Market'; and the adjacent outdoor shopping area with lagoon, clock tower and varied shopping, movie theatre (14 of them) and restaurants known as ';The Grove';
4. There are always people around because of the above attractions so it%26#39;s safe to walk any time.
The ';stars home'; tours are available from anywhere -- ask at the hotel.
Good luck!
I%26#39;ll second the Farmer%26#39;s Daughter. The location is very nice and very walkable.
