Hi
I%26#39;m considering a driving holiday in March.
My questions are distance/time it is betwen the following.
From LA to San Fransico?
Also San Fransico to Seattle? I know its a long way but is the drive something that can be done in a few days or are we talking a long time?
Also how far is Vancover from Seattle?
As you can see I%26#39;m looking to drive along the West Coast and would really like to visit these places.
All advice and ideas appreciated.

this site should help you. go down to the directions and enter in the city and state for your ';from'; and ';to'; destinations.
looks like sf to seattle is about 13 hours driving.
also for trips up the coast especially, you should allow for time to take in the scenery and rest. otherwise it makes it more of a chore than a holiday.
Driving Questions.
If you want to get to San Francisco quickly from LA, you can do it in about 5.5 hours on the main freeway 5 through the state. The scenic route 1 along the coast is an hour or two longer, but I think worth doing. You%26#39;re on vacation, take your time! Vancouver is very close to Seattle. I think just over an hour away. As previously suggested, use MAPQUEST.COM to get a better idea of distances.
You might want to ';break up'; the drive with a train ride. Amtrak offers service between Los Angeles and Seattle known as the ';Coast Starlight';. You can go aboard/get off at any of the following stations:
Los Angeles, CA Union Station (LAX)
Van Nuys, CA Metrolink (VNC)
Oxnard, CA (OXN)
Santa Barbara, CA (SBA)
San Luis Obispo, CA (SLO)
Salinas, CA (SNS)
San Jose, CA (SJC)
Oakland, CA Jack London Sq (OKJ) %26lt;-- San Francisco area
Emeryville, CA (EMY)
Martinez, CA (MTZ)
Davis, CA (DAV)
Sacramento, CA (SAC)
Klamath Falls, OR (KFS)
Eugene, OR (EUG)
Albany, OR (ALY)
Salem, OR (SLM)
Portland, OR (PDX)
Vancouver, WA (VAN)
Tacoma, WA (TAC)
Seattle, WA (SEA)
The ENTIRE trip is 34 hours long and costs $83 (with 30 days
notice) but, as I say, you can drive some or most of it.
Go to amtrak.com and enter starting and ending points of Los Angeles and Seattle (click on the station locator for assistance).
By the way, they do have service to Vancouver but you%26#39;d have to change trains.
Have fun!
