Where I am, after Labor Day, no one wears summer clothes or summer colors for that matter--no white slacks, no shorts, no pastel colors, etc. Since the weather is so different there, will locals be in fall colors and clothes. I%26#39;ve been to SoCal many times, but always in the summer. We are planning an October trip and need some help not to stick out like a tourist. Will it be too cold for shorts?
Dressing for San Diego/Anaheim in OctoberWe tend to wear summer colors all year long; since we really don%26#39;t have ';seasons'; to speak of, we just layer a sweater or jacket over our summer clothes. I have a friend who visits often from Portland, Oregon, and she always comments that she feels so ';drab'; in her greens and browns compared to the locals when she comes to visit at Christmas time. It won%26#39;t be too cold for shorts during the daytime, but it does get cooler at night. I can%26#39;t speak for Anaheim, but we are VERY casual here in San Diego. Bring whatever you%26#39;ve brought before - all colors - bright, white, pastel, etc - and just throw in a couple sweaters and a jacket in (slight) case of showers. The only way you%26#39;ll stick out is if you wear plaid bermuda shorts and black socks with sandals on the beach!
Dressing for San Diego/Anaheim in OctoberChissis...thanks! It%26#39;ll be great to be wearing summer stuff in October. I do remember the cool evenings...would a sweatjacket be enough or do you think we need something heavier? We pack very light.
That should be plenty, that%26#39;s all I ever wear (unless it rains)
Traditionally, October is our hottest month, it%26#39;s Santa Ana wind season. But you never know from year to year, last year the rains begin mid-October and didn%26#39;t stop.
Check the weather a day before packing. Regardless, Cali is very casual and laid back, there are no rules (you%26#39;ll see plenty of people in white and in shorts).
';No rules'; just about says it all! Yes, we are very casual and the October weather can vary from hot and summery to cool and rainy (well, maybe not so much rainy).
Mostly it%26#39;s nice and sunny! I%26#39;ve been to the East Coast--Connecticut and New England. Pack light and buy something fun out here!
thanks to all of you...looking forward to being warm instead of autumn leaves.
