1 week in San Diego

Dear all,

I am going to spend a week with my family including a 22 months old in San Diego next month. I am going to staying at a condo which faces pacific beach but I have a few questions.

(1) I am wondering have any supermarket close to Pacific beach since I may spend a few nights to cook and eat at the condo.

(2) Have any good seafood markets around the area?

(3) I am sure I will go to visit Seaworld, San Diego zoo and Wild Animal park. Probably I will go to Seaworld on Sat or Sun since they have longer hour but is it matter to go to the Zoo and Wild Animal Park during weekday or weekend in terms of the crowd?

(4) How is the parking in San Diego?

Thanks

Boy, you picked the right time to come and visit...the big bulk of tourists will be G-O-N-E!

There are several supermarkets there in PB, Von%26#39;s particularly comes to mind... that shouldn%26#39;t be a problem...hopefully you folks are going to have a car, cause that could be a problem if you don%26#39;t. We drive here in San Diego. Especially outside of the downtown area.

I%26#39;m thinking you will be at the north end of Pacific Beach, close to the border with La Jolla...Fish Markets specifically, I don%26#39;t know of any offhand, but the supermarkets generally carry pretty good, fresh fish. There is probably one if you head north toward La Jolla...I just haven%26#39;t been there for a while, and sometimes those smaller kinds of shops come and go.

During September, the crowds shouldn%26#39;t be too bad at the Zoo, Wild Animal Park or Sea World, in particular. If I had to map it out, I would do the Sea World during the week, and try to take in some of the behind the scenes kind of things if they are available. It really shouldn%26#39;t be that bad on the weekend, but if you have a 22 month old, you probably won%26#39;t be staying all that long anyway.

Had you thought of taking in LegoLand, about 25 miles north of where you are staying? With your 22 month old, that might be a fun thing for a half day.

The Zoo and Wild Animal Park are pretty far apart...the Zoo is down in the center of town (Balboa Park) and the Wild Animal Park is like about 45 miles northeast...so make those two separate day trips.

You can find lots to see and do in Balboa Park surrounding the Zoo, that is where our museums are, and it%26#39;s beautiful.

Parking is usually not a big deal, unless you are heading toward the downtown/gaslamp areas. I would assume your condo in PB has at least one assigned space, but be warned, street parking in PB can be challenging. The zoo, parking is free. Sea World and Wild Animal Park have (I think!!) $5 to $8 parking fee. but plenty of parking.

Most areas have parking available, it isn%26#39;t quite the hot commodity you might be used to back east. Unless you are a nutcase like myself, who has to park on a particuarly perfect end spot, far away from everyone else to try to avoid a door ding.

I hope you enjoy your visit here...and get out and walk along the boardwalk connecting PB south with Mission Beach area. It%26#39;s a wonderful ';people-watching'; thing to do!

Thank you for info. Actually I am going to stay pretty close to Crystal pier but my condo come with parking. yes, I am going to rent a car. Will it be easy to find a garage in downtown area?Actually I may skip legoland since my 22 months old doesn%26#39;t seem very interested in lego and he is too young to get into the rides.
