On our vacation next month we plan to travel from San Diego to Williams for the Grand Canyon Train. It looks as though the most direct route is via Phoenix but is this possible in one day%26#39;s driving? If not, where is the best place to stop en route.
Travel to Williams
If you have more than one driver and can switch behind the wheel I think this can easily be done in one day. As far as I remember it was approximately an 8-hour drive.
If not Gila Bend looks like half-way through and you can stay overnight there. There is nothing to do in Gila Bend, but it is a convenient and inexpensive stop right off the interstate for an overnight stay.
