Central California Snow Stay!

Help - We are heading to San Fransisco in early April 06 and will drive down to Vegas. We have limited time on our hands and want to find somewhere nice to stay for a few nights where the kids can get some snowplay in and we can relax before the rush and chaos of Vegas %26amp; Disneyland. This year we chose Big Bear which was great and we%26#39;re hoping to find somewhere similar next year. Our kids are 8 and 14.

Thanks - J%26amp;D BALDIVIS WESTERN AUSTRALIA.

If you are inclined to head over to Yosemite, you might still find Badger Pass Ski Area open. Somewhere on the Yosemite web site I bet they have alist of closing dates to give you an idea. It is family friendly and you could find a place to stay nearby in Yosemite West to save long drives to the valley and back. Check www.yosemite.com

Condos, houses, cabins or the house next to Yosemite Peregrine B and B - Falcon%26#39;s Nest I think.

An alternative.......

If you have never been to Sequoia National Park and have the time , you would probably enjoy Montecito Lodge. Do a post on the Sequoia / Kings Canyon forum and get some feedback as well as looking it up on the hotels section on Trip Advisor.

Thanks Juday for the info. We tend to like cabins in preference to hotels for this leg, nice to have room to move! Anyone else have any ideas?

You mentioned you stayed at Big Bear. Did you like it? Lake Arrowhead is nearby and the communities in that part of the mountain have varied accomodations. Actually both of those locations are more convenient for Anaheim and Vegas than the Sierras - but it depends on the time you have.

I do not know if there will still be snow there in April but take a look at Idyllwild. Possibly it will be spring already depending on our winter weather. It is a charming little mountain town and the realtors have quite a lot of second home /cabins in the rental pool. It is near San Jacinto Mountain on hwy243 as opposed to Big Bear that is across Int 60 on Mt San Gorgonio.
