Please tell me, which one is the hottest radio station in LA and which type of music do they play?

The most influential radio station is KCRW (88.9) - their morning program, Morning Becomes Eclectic, along with the night time djs (Jason Bentley and Garth Trinidad) - are the best (kcrw.com has live streaming). Then there%26#39;s KROQ (106.7), which seems to have hit a peak in the mid-90s. And Jack (93.1) is new and great. But satellite radio is raplacing terrestrial radio more and more.

There are other stations that play top 40, but the stations that get #1 again and again are the spanish language stations.

Yeah, the ratings have been a bit volatile lately.

KIIS (102.7), which plays mostly pop music with reggaeton (sp?) and hip-hop added to the mix, just made a huge press release about how they just got back #1 rating from Power (KPWR, 105.9). They were only able to do it by more heavily rotating hip-hop and reggaeton than they had in the past. Power plays mostly hip-hop.

KROQ has its niche market of rock music (all kinds of rock - punk, hard, old school, alternative, with certain pop rock, etc), but like was said above, it peaked in the 90s. It still has a pretty solid following, though.

Depends on what type of music you%26#39;re into. I like hip hop, so the two top stations for that are: Power 106 (KPWR) and 100.3 The Beat (KKBT). If you%26#39;re into Jazz, it%26#39;s 94.7 The Wave(KTWV). Alternative it%26#39;s KROQ.

KIIS 102.7 is back to #1 in LA. But for a while, the top stations in LA were Spanish-speaking radio stations.

When I was in California the last time six years ago I was listening to a station 91.x or something like that. Music was great.

Indie 103.1 is FAR superior to KROQ now.

91X is out of San Diego. The signal usually doesn%26#39;t reach all the way up to L.A.

Sinbce virtually all of the music they are playing now is garbage, the best radio station in LA is KABC, 790 AM -- conservative talk radio!

Don%26#39;t worry Bigthomase. Most people in LA don%26#39;t consider KABC the best station. The right wing talk shows are losing a large fraction of their audience.

Before 93.1 switched to the ';Jack'; crap, it played pretty good music -- wasn%26#39;t it KLSX, Classic Rock? Now, it is a mix of all sorts of stuff, sure to play stuff that offends all of the listeners. I like about 30% of the music, and the people who like the other 70% hate the 30% I like.

If you want good music, bring your i-pod or CDs, so you are not dependent on what some DJ is paid by the studios to push!
