Hi I love tripadviser and really need all the help that I can get.
We (my husband and I and our 18th month old baby) are going to San Francisco on the 6th of October for four nights. For our anniversary. I have NEVER spent so much time researching hotels and we travel a lot. We would like a luxury room. prefer a suite, we need all the room that we can get. We would really like a jacuzzi/tub
We are willing to pay, as long as it is value for the dollar. Here are what I have come up with, and I keep going back and forth.
Mandarin Oriental 450/night includes two days parking and breakfast for two.
Hotel Vitale family king 289
maxwell hotel Junior suite 161
Hotel rex 189
Radisson Miyako Tower corner suite 169
Hotel Adagio 259,
The Archbishops Mansion Grand suite 304
Hotel Monaco Monte Carlo suite 445
location is imporant, and I need somewhere that is good for our toddler.
Please Please Help me.

If you are ready to drop over $400/nt on a room forget the Rex, the Maxwell, the Adagio, the Radisson Miyako and the Family Suite at the Vitale. What does the Vitale have in the $400 range? Is that a regular room at the Mandarin? If it is, I would go for the Monte Carlo Suite at the Monaco. However, I would still check the Omni, Palomar, Serrano and Hyatt Regency to see what they had with a jacuzzi tub in the $400 range.

You have some good choices but a way to narrow them down is to decide where you would be best located for what you want to see and how often you%26#39;ll need to go back to your hotel during the day when your little one needs a ';break.'; For example, you maybe don%26#39;t want to have to walk up Nob Hill every time your toddler needs to recharge.
Thank you so much for your help.
We would be willing to pay for a gorgeous suite as long as it is worth the money. We haven%26#39;t been away for a while due to our baby, and we are willing to pay to have a memorable trip. But if we can get that for less than Great.
The Mandarin is a executive room 450sqft with sep tub. We have satyed in the same room in Miami. very nice but yes top dollar.
The Omni just has king rooms. There is a problem with available suites. I would have thought with such a lot of hotels they would be more available!
As to location. We have never been to San Francisco before, so I am having some problems in deciding where to be. We will have a car, so the fact that some of these top end hotels charge $40 day for parking also has to be added in!
We would like to spend a day or two in town sightseeing and shopping. And a day at Alcatraz. We do need somewhere safe and fairly quiet at night. Somewhere that is easy to walk out of pushing a toddler is best.
I see that a lot of people have complained that Union Square is loud at night.
Any thoughts?
I think Stephani%26#39;s post makes the most sense. I think the Mandarin and Monaco are kind of off the beat and path. I would take a look at a suite at the Westin St. Francis, the Grand Hyatt and Campton Place. Although the Mandarin sounds like a good deal with the parking and breakfast if the room is to your liking. The only thing is that it is in the financial district. It is quiet at night. Union Square is not that noisey, and you can always request a quiet room on an upper floor no matter where you stay. Parking is going to be expensive at any of the high end hotels.
My favorite is the Pan Pacific Hotel on Post Street, a great location near Union Square. It%26#39;s modern and classy--marble bathrooms. Not as plush as some of the upscale hotels, but very nice. They have suites, and even their regular rooms are unusually large for SF--around 400 sq feet., I think.
Thank you
I have spent so long here going over these hotels, time and time again. There aren%26#39;t that many rooms available!
The Ritz Carlton is booked, the Pan pacific too, the Omni, the Four seasons, the Drisco, all booked. lots more, the same thing
the others just have suites for $600-800 or small rooms.
But for like the 20th time of going over I have just stumbled across a king exec suite with Jacuzzi at the Serrano, including a hour massage in our room (and a bottle of bubble bath) for $259 !! Normally $389 room only
Is this in a good location?
What do you think? I booked it ASAP
Not the best location, but not bad enough to not do it. The hotel is nice and it is one corner down from the Monaco. It sits Kitty Corner from the Clift and Hilton. The hotel is part of the Kimpton Group and is nice. The rooms are very similar to the Monaco. I think they may have used the same decorator(?) They have Ponzu adjoining them which is a nice Asian Fusion restaurant. When you walk out the front doors, you turn left up to the corner and you are on Geary. Go to the right from there and you are totally fine. There are nice restaurants right there. The Grand Cafe at the Monaco and the Cortez accross the street at the Adagio. Go for it!
you have been the best help Wes.
Thank you.
Stand by for more questions.........
Let me know if you need any help in the Turks %26amp; Caicos
My pleasure. Just let me know how it turns out. I think you got a good deal. Someday I will need help with the Islands, but your 18 month old will probably be online answering questions by then. Thanks again!
I stayed at the Serrano in January of 2004 for a week. Our room was nicely appointed, and we liked all the extra touches: the good hotel lobby coffee in the morning, the 5:00pm wine, cheese and massage hour in the lobby.
