Hi we have got tickets for the SD zoo we presume its an all day trip.
The thing is we have been advised to go to Seaworld we could get a ticket for this with Universal studios to get best value.
However we are only in SD for 3 days should we just do the Zoo ? or both.
If we do just the Zoo is it worht hiring a car is there anything we can drive to.
We were planning to use Public Transport and ferrys .
Thank you for your advise and time in replying.

Is Zoo and Seaworld during 3 day Stay too much?
We did both within 3 days and it was fine. The zoo is pretty big and could fill up a day, although with a 3 year old we didn%26#39;t stay the entire day. The grounds are very hilly, but there are busses to hop on if you find yourself tired out at the wrong end of the park. I also recommend the bus tour of the zoo...we sat on the upper deck and got better views of the animals than when we walked by the enclosures. Sea World is absolutely worth the trip. We actually enjoyed it more than the zoo. It%26#39;s also not as exhausting as you%26#39;ll spend a portion of the day sitting and watching shows.

I too think you%26#39;ll enjoy going to both the zoo and SeaWorld. The zoo is located in Balboa Park, which is a beautiful area full of historic buildings and museums. If for some reason, you get done at the zoo and still want to explore, you will be right at the Park, so you wouldn%26#39;t need to hire a car to see that as well.

We just spent several days in San Diego. We spent one day at Sea World and another taking the ferry to Coronado in the morning and the zoo in the afternoon.
Although we live near the National Zoo in Washington (which is free), we were still glad we saw the San Diego Zoo. The habitats and grounds are magnificent. My kids definitely preferred Sea World.
As far as Universal Studios, our big splurge was to spend the extra money and purchase a front-of-line pass.
Hi davej,
The other posters have provided good information on the zoo and Sea World. Universal Studios is a long drive away but you can take Amtrak to Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles and take the Red Line Light Rail (North Hollywood destination) to the Universal City station and then cross (Lankershim Blvd. and take a free shuttle up the hill to Universal Studios and Citywalk. Before going, contact Universal Studios regarding the schedule of the shuttle that takes you up and down the hill. Within San Diego you should have no problems using public transit, unless you are staying in the Harbor Island or Shelter Island areas where there is no public transportation.
Thank you for your help guys.
We will be doing Seaworld thanks to your advice.
SD looks a beutifull city cant wait to visit .
Dave.
Hi davej,
Are you planning to go to Universal Studios?
I think you%26#39;d have time to do the zoo or Wild Animal Park too if you didn%26#39;t go to Universal Studios. The zoo is in Balboa Park about 15 min. away from Sea World and the Wild Animal Park is only about 35-40 min. away from Sea World.
In fact, if you%26#39;re there for 3 full days, you probably would have time to do Sea World (1 day), Universal Studios (1 day) and either a full day at the zoo or Wild Animal Park, half day at the zoo or Wild Animal Park and the other half at another attraction (Balboa Park museums, Old Town, etc.). If you do decide to go to Wild Animal Park in Escondido, I would suggest you go in the morning because that is when the animals are most likely to be active and in view.
