I%26#39;ll be taking my 1st cruise the 1st week of November. The cruise originates and concludes in San Diego. I%26#39;m looking for a hotel or B%26amp;B to stay over the Saturday night before I return home on Nov 6th. I don%26#39;t want to bother with a car, so would like to have an overnight location with good restaurants, shopping, and possibly galleries. A hotel with an airport shuttle would be nice but not essential- I%26#39;ll be flying out early Sun AM. I like smaller hotels with character and maybe even a European feel, though I%26#39;m also enjoy to a nice view, quiet location and contemporary styling.
It%26#39;s been many years since I%26#39;ve been to San Diego-I%26#39;m sure I%26#39;ll return in the future for a longer stay.

Unfortunately, you are limited to mostly big chain hotels around the airport. You may want to take a look at the Little Italy inn. It is exactly what you had requested, a small, comfortable, european style Inn. I drive by the building nearly every day, and it%26#39;s very nice. The reviews are generally good. The only unknown would be whether or not they offer shuttle service. You may want to ask, but it%26#39;s rare outside of the larger hotels. But, staying in Little Italy would be a good choice for you --- it%26#39;s full of great restaurants, galleries, coffee shops, and quaint little stores. Your cruise is likely going to the Mexican Riviera, which I just came back from. Had a blast! Have fun.

Thanks for the information re the Little Italy Inn. It looks perfect! Beautiful accommodations and location with what I%26#39;m looking for-plus apparently close to the port and the airport.
Yes, the cruise is to the Mexican riviera-Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. Any ideas re places to go in those locations?
